If we were having coffee

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that we have snow…and our two akitas couldn’t be happier. I have yet to see them express that amount of happiness at the sight of us or food or their beds. Snow holds an incredible amount of glee for our two fluff-balls. They simply can’t get enough of the stuff.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that lately, work has been actually fun. I work with the public and while they can be demanding, contradicting and maddening, they can also be cute, endearing and hilarious. I had a week where I spent most of my time at work laughing. Laughter, in my book, is one of the best things.

If we were having coffee, I’d share that my lovely, British hubby is obsessed with a restaurant and we’ve been going religiously to it every weekend since September. After two and a half months of the same food, I’m starting to look like the menu. If he suggests it next weekend, I might kick him in the buttocks.

How was your week? Is there anyone you’d like to kick?

Coffee share has found a new home.  Eclectic Alli is hosting it. Come see what everyone’s saying.

If we were having coffee

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that it’s finally fall here. Fall in Canada has a crispy, cool feel to the air that’s unique to this time of year. It’s cold but it doesn’t have the harsh bite of winter’s winds so it’s lovely. The leaves are beautiful too. They explode into a million shades of yellow, gold and bold reds that makes walking a spiritual experience.

So, to the delight of my two fluff-balls of dogs, we had two walks today. It was just that gorgeous outside.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that I just survived a professional ‘development’ day where the most useful thing I learned was that the ladies in that particular cafeteria don’t know the difference between a vegan and a velociraptor if one bit them on the leg.

This was their version of a vegan lunch…

If we were having coffee I’d share these jokes to make you smile.

If we were having coffee

If we were having coffee we’d be at a new coffee shop. I’ve just discovered it. It opened up near my Day Job Place (of all places) and it’s delightful. Part coffee-house, part restaurant, it’s cozy, classy and full of daylight. It had free Wi-Fi and plenty of sitting space, so the only remaining question was the quality of its coffee.

I ordered one and got the picture to the left…and it tastes even better than it looks. Absolutely delicious. Yum!

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that this week has been a whirl of madness. Coming back to work was exciting, terrifying, insanely busy and fulfilling all at once. I have a job that causes a rainbow of emotions in me. I’ve been doing it for a while but it still manages to both surprise and challenge me.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that the weather has been causing me no end of worries. These incredible storms are terrifying. I wonder if this is the result of humankind’s lack of environmental responsibility and care.  I hope this doesn’t mean even worse storms for the upcoming generations. I worry for the poor victims of Harvey and Irma. I hope people (and pets) have made it to shelter.

If we were having coffee

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that this week has been my last week off before returning to work and I’m not sure I’m ready to head back. My Day Job is working with the public and though it’s both challenging and rewarding, I’m sort of scared to head back. The introvert in me is hiding in her shell.

In other news, Ocean, our furry girl akita, has decided that her diet of kibble and treats we give her is not up to her Royal Fluffiness standards and has started to eat things outside in the yard. The yard being mostly made of grass and dirt, she’s eating said grass, some crab apples she finds and, most disturbingly, wild mice that she somehow catches. It’s this last part that worries me the most because wild mice aren’t exactly disease free. Also, she swallows the things and then has to puke them back up because her system can’t handle them whole. The entire thing is both incredibly disgusting and disturbing. How she likes to eat that when we give her healthy kibble, fruits, tuna and clean water is a mystery.

Finally, this week my hubby has been furnishing his new office which means I’ve been drafted into helping him. Me, being incredibly strong and muscular (ahem!) I basically huff and puff and try to lift one end of the furniture while my husband curses in British and wonders why he didn’t invite his buddies to help out. I concur.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that, after talking to a friend, I decided to leave my plant-based diet a few weeks ago. I dropped it like a hot potato thinking I’d be able to switch without an issue. As it turns out, switching diets can have an impact on your digestive system. Mine threw a tantrum worthy of a two-year old and I literally ran back to my vegetables, fruits and legumes.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that my week off from work is done and I’m heading back tomorrow. I’ve tried to explain this to my furry babies but I’m worried they have not understood and will be really upset tomorrow. We’ve been doing long walks and having snuggling sessions on a daily basis and they’re definitely going to miss that.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m worried about Texas and how everyone will endure Hurricane Harvey. I keep watching the news for updates and hoping things will work out somehow.

Finally, I’d tell you that I’ve been snooping around other blogs and really enjoying reading what other people are up to on their weekend. Weekend Coffee Share is such a great idea. A huge thanks to Part Time Monster for running it!

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that I can already see the first signs of Fall in the trees. Some of the leaves are changing and they’re getting to that beautiful reddish hue that only maples have. I love fall, but I miss the extra hours of daylight that summer provides.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that I’ve been watching a British show (we only get UK channels with our new system) called: Paul O’Grady for the love of dogs.

Not only do they rescue, help and find new homes for the dogs, Paul is hilarious and makes me laugh with every episode. He chats with the dogs and asks them questions and he’s just so funny. It’s hard to stop watching and yesterday, I watched an entire season in one go.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that River has been itching like crazy lately. I think he might be allergic to something, so we’ve started giving him allergy medication…but, just in case, we’re also going to give him a bath. Since River hates baths, giving him one is akin to trying to wash one of the dragons from Game of Thrones, a herculean and massive task to be avoided at all costs.

Finally, I’d ask you how your week was going, how things are on your end and what news you have to share.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that yesterday I had a moment of pure bliss. I was seated on the deck, smiling at the clouds, with my doggies snuggled at my sides. We were sharing an apple and reminiscing over the summer weeks gone by.

River’s highlight was having me home and getting all those extra kisses, Ocean’s was getting all the extra visits from little critters in our yard. While River chewed on his bits of apple, I had to admit that this summer was superb. It hasn’t been too hot and, though I had work to do, I was able to hang out and do plenty of mind-numbing nothing. Delicious.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that just yesterday my hubby invited a therapist friend of his and we all went out to enjoy some of our favourite hot drinks with decadent brownies. We ate and laughed and chatted about nothing and everything and, even though I’m a complete and dedicated introvert, it was awesome.

Finally, I’d add my two cents about the show Game of Thrones, which I’m watching with my hubby who is obsessed delighted with it. (spoiler alert) I do have a lot of issues with the violence on that show…especially when animals get hurt, even if I know that it’s all pretend. Not nice.

If we were having coffee…

(credit:Videezy)

If we were having coffee, I’d share that I have some time off work coming up soon and I’m over the moon about it. Me, being me, I’ve also managed to have some work to take home with me during that break but I think that there will be plenty of time to do both, work and relax.

If we were having coffee, I’d share with you that yesterday was Canada’s 150th Birthday and we went out to celebrate among the many other Canadians. It was hot, sticky and humid…not to mention the crowds. When we finally got an ice-cream and headed back home, I breathed a sigh of relief. I don’t like crowds.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that this is my favourite time of day. It’s early morning, it’s super quiet and nothing is moving in the house except my fingers on the keyboard. Soooo peaceful.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you I’m on the hunt for another book to read. Have you read anything you’d recommend?

What do you think? Is it time for another cup of coffee?

If we were having coffee, I’d be on my second cup…and loving it. Since I seldom have 2 cups, the second one is sheer luxury. One more reason to love the weekends.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that this particular weekend is my hubby’s birthday and, though he just got a very spiffy new truck, we’ll probably do something to celebrate…we just don’t know what right now. Any suggestions? He’s pretty set on seeing a movie and I, being my outgoing, extrovert self, want nothing to do with that.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you work just gave me a change in my position for next year…and it’s one that no other colleague wants, so I have to study, literally study all this stuff to learn how to do it right. I’ve already started and I can tell you the subject is dreadful. I can see why no one wants this position and that I will definitely make mistakes. This is no easy walk in the park. Wish me luck.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that River, at the ripe old age of 5, is starting to become quite the grump. Just like his mother, he wants nothing to do with the outside world and will only leave the house when his bladder absolutely demands it. He’s also developed quite a taste for kisses and demands those more and more frequently. Finally, he’s starting to ignore his father and will only listen to yours truly. This last issue doesn’t sit well with my lovely hubby who believes I have spoiled him silly.

Isn’t it lovely to just sit, talk and have a lovely cup of coffee? The only thing that could make this better would be a book…but then I’d be ignoring you and that’s just not right. How was your week? Any news on your end? Talk to me.
