Another rush of those amazing posts came my way and I couldn’t resist but to collect a few of them and line them up for you. See if you like them. My hope is you find a couple useful or at least interesting.

I haven’t kept my writer’s block a secret from anyone. If you have this, you know how painful it can be. This post is from Nathan Bransford on the subject. He has his own version of a break through. If Nathan Bransford doesn’t do it, here is the latest help on that subject from The Write Practice, by Marcy McKay. Finally, Tiny Buddha has this great post on how to keep dreaming when others have discouraged you.

Awesome posts for writers

There are a lot of posts out there claiming to help writers. While some truly do, others fall short of the mark. I’ve chosen these below with a careful, judgmental eye. In order to make the cut, they had to be clear, offer something valuable to a writer and deliver. I’ve included a summary and a little blurb on why they’re in this list. My hope is that you find them useful.

A great story only occurs with great characters and that means fleshing them out, making them complete, real. Here’s a great post from The Crimson League on how to do just that.

Now this post made its way to me, all by itself. I love it when that happens! It’s about how to make money with your blog…something I’ve heard about but never even considered. If you’re interested, it’s a great post, with steps and links (love them!) from someone who truly knows what they’re talking about. A huge thanks to AdNgin for this great post!

If you’re a writer looking for a way to increase your productivity, this post is for you. With clear ways to explain what works, tips and online tools carefully selected for each type, this post is a fantastic and very clear way to understand what works for you and what doesn’t. Don’t beat yourself up, sometimes it’s all about finding that right approach to get started. A huge thanks to Carson Tate from 99u for that great post.

I love the concept of simplicity and less being more. In that sense, I read this post by James Ball in Becoming Minimalist and loved the idea that giving books away creates space to love reading more. Sometimes, it takes giving something away to keep it.

I’ve heard ‘Show, don’t tell’ but I have seldom seen a clear way to fix that pit fall. Until this post in the Write Practice, that is. In it, I had clear examples and links to other resources in the subject. Loved, loved it!

Finally, something to make you laugh. This post on top ten things not to say to a writer made me laugh out loud. Absolute gold from Wise Ink.

In this busy, hectic week I found myself reminded of what a wonderful, supportive lot you all are! More than that, you’re also a very talented group. You keep coming up with amazing posts that keep me glued to my laptop. For that, I have to thank you! Look at what you wrote this week, isn’t it awesome?

Definitely one I needed to read, 36 Writing Tips to Put Your Butt in the Chair by Positive Writer. An excellent post filled with ideas and quotes from those who know.

A great list of possible books to re-read, this post caught my attention immediately. I’m always looking for a new read. Great post from Words Read and Written!

A beautifully touching post on conquering fear, a huge thank you to Life is Colour for this incredible post!

Loved this post. It was so interesting. The Top Ten Characters who should get their own books…awesome post from the incomparable Part Time Monster.

Posts I loved this week

A very exciting week in posts with everything from news to terrifying content.

I rambled on last week about Sourcerer‘s new contributor (Luther M. Siler) but here’s another reason to check out this awesome blog if you haven’t done so yet, WordPress Tricks. Those are some of the goodies you get from Sourcerer. Awesome, eh? I know! And, by the way, if you’re interested in joining Sourcerer, check out this post. This is a great time to join because they’re growing.

I love funny posts and this one is hilarious. What happens when Just Ponderin’ gets the Christmas catalog with steps on how to run the perfect holiday feast. I laughed out loud.

Okay, I don’t usually link to this type of post but I had to make an exception because the post is brilliant. However, it’s also terrifying. It’s on how to spot if someone is a psychopath by one simple question from I am not the Batman. I won’t lie, I was a shaking mess when I read it. Yikes.

A better post (and happier news) is the new book from Laekan Zea Kemp, The Boy in her Dreams. A huge congrats to Ms. Kemp for this accomplishment!

If you’re doing Nanowrimo, here‘s a post on how to get ready from The Sprint Shack.

Exciting news for everyone who blogs. Just Gene’O is going to undergo a big change. It’s focus is going to be every type of blogger: “geek bloggers, food bloggers, mommy bloggers, diarists, and every other type of blogger you can think of, as well as writers and book lovers.” Everything from passing information to tons of content about blogging to fun features. Just Gene’O is going to be fantastic! I can’t wait.

Steven Pressfield has this great post: The Second Act Belongs to the Villain. I thought it was absolutely superb.

I love nothing more than honesty and sometimes, when people get upset, they’re really honest. This is what got me in this great post by Nina Kaytel. She was upset and wrote this wonderful post about appreciating every kind of book.

The Write Practice has this great post on how to use Scrivener to sketch a setting. If you’re a fan of Scrivener or curious about the program, check it out.

This post by KJ Charles got me thinking in a good way. How do I react to bad reviews? And is it worth reading reviews? KJ has the admirable attitude of not reading reviews. I found that so interesting. I’m totally botching the description, check out the post.

This awesome post on First Drafts by Mishka Jenkins made me feel so much better because it not only let me know I’m not the only one who struggles with them but she also shared tips and steps on how to move forward.

If you’re looking for witty, intelligent writing, I can’t recommend this blog highly enough. I Am Not The Batman is surprisingly insightful while keeping a great sense of humour. At the same time, it’s so well written, I couldn’t pick between the great choices of posts.

Along the same lines, inspiring you, Robin LaFevers advocates for doing nothing in her post: The Surprising Importance of Doing Nothing from Writer Unboxed.
