Top posts of 2017

Here are the five top posts of 2017 as ranked by you, the reader!

5. This post was my rambling about a week that was nuts at work and pretty crazy at home. I added some jokes and it resonated with readers.

4. This one made number 4 and is one of my ‘If we were having coffee’ posts. They’re a great way to sum up a week in one post and I find that readers really enjoy them.

3. Number 3 on this humble list is an oldie that just won’t fade away. People love this post about akitas.

2. Number 2 also keeps being a huge hit, especially with bloggers. I had no idea, when I wrote it, that I would still be talking about it years later.

1. This one made number 1 by a mile. It has tons of views and continues to create tons of interest. Nothing I’ve written this year even comes close.

Thank you so much for reading and keeping this little blog alive and here’s hoping you have a wonderful 2018!

If we were having coffee…

If we were having coffee I’d ask you what you did for New Years and if you have already seen the Mariah Carey fiasco where she storms off the stage.

I’d ask you if you made any New Year’s resolutions and what they are. Personally, I never make them because I tend to break them faster than I can say them. But I do have the intention of writing…just what is up in the air. And to exercise more. That’s always important.

Then again, you might still be recuperating from the festivities of the past few days, and the last thing you want to do is chat.

What about that cup of coffee? It does wonders for my headaches 🙂

Note: If we were having coffee is a meme from Part Time Monster.

A little break

I’ve been debating this for a while. I’ve thought of taking some time away from the blog during the holidays but then felt badly and changed my mind. Finally, today I finally decided to go and do it. Not easy to leave a blog even if it’s only for a couple of weeks because I like mucking about on it and chatting with people online (the people I’ve met are really, really nice).

Uncomfortable as it may be, this is something that might help me write more and certainly replenish my blogging batteries. Besides, it’s always good to try new things and experiment. So I’m taking the risk and doing it.

Wish me luck! (I hope I don’t cave and run back here crying like a four year old) And I’ll see you back on January 6th!

MY TWELVE PRINCIPLES FOR GETTING BETTER AT GETTING OLD

I loved this post. It’s on http://ninamishkin.com, a fantastic blog. I thought it changed that entire ‘resolution’ thing of the New Year into something beautiful and positive. Those items on her list certainly hit home with me. Loved it!

ON BEING OLD

This is not a list of New Year’s Resolutions.

I gave up on those many a New Year ago.  I may be a slow learner, but I finally realized that by January 3 of every year, at the latest, my list of resolutions was always a train wreck and I had lost whatever few remaining shreds of self esteem inspired the creation of the list in the first place.

So never mind all that.  I assure you the principles I’m talking about here:

(a) were drafted last August;

(b) are not to be thought of as “resolutions;” and

(c) were inspired by a redhead in her forties who has become well known, in blogging circles and beyond, not for resolutions but for her pursuit of happiness.  The redhead is Gretchen Rubin, author of The Happiness Project and Happiness at Home.  Her blog is called The Happiness Project.  [If…
