If we were having coffee

If we were having coffee, I’d ask for a second one. This week has been crazy. It seems I’m not the only one who’s had a nutty week, Luther M. Siler’s sounds absolutely bonkers.

If you asked what was nuts at my job, I’d tell you, without giving away too many details, that I’ve seen co-workers crying this week, that my job used to include doing Thing-A and has suddenly changed to Thing-B and that there were some late, late hours at work this week. This weekend was a desperately needed necessity.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m looking forward to spending tomorrow with my puppies and taking them on a long walk. Today has been all about cleaning up the house (it was a disaster), getting groceries (we had nothing but baking soda and water in the fridge) and recuperating from the week.

Finally, I’d share with you that my lovely hubby has been trying to ‘cure’ my fear of spiders by showing me horrific pictures of said animals.

That’s right ladies, he’s all mine.

If we were having coffee, I’d ask you what you were doing for Thanksgiving. We’re celebrating with a massive meal that’s guaranteed to make us all sick and grateful we are alive.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you Ocean is mostly back to her normal self. She’s still a little subdued but she’s eating and her stomach doesn’t sound like a orchestra warming up any longer. I am so grateful for Trent for his tip, I can’t even begin to tell you.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that we already had family over yesterday and we played Euchre. My lovely hubby being the serious card player that he is, he called it on a 9 and promptly lost the entire game to the horror of his partner and our laughter.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that it’s dreary and wet and gross around here but I’m so grateful I haven’t heard anything in the news about Trump and North Korea that it doesn’t bother me at all.

Finally I’d ask you how your coffee was. I had the world’s most bitter brew yesterday. It was so nasty even adding tons of milk couldn’t dilute the acid taste.

How about you? How was your week?

If we were having coffee

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that it’s finally fall here. Fall in Canada has a crispy, cool feel to the air that’s unique to this time of year. It’s cold but it doesn’t have the harsh bite of winter’s winds so it’s lovely. The leaves are beautiful too. They explode into a million shades of yellow, gold and bold reds that makes walking a spiritual experience.

So, to the delight of my two fluff-balls of dogs, we had two walks today. It was just that gorgeous outside.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that I just survived a professional ‘development’ day where the most useful thing I learned was that the ladies in that particular cafeteria don’t know the difference between a vegan and a velociraptor if one bit them on the leg.

This was their version of a vegan lunch…

If we were having coffee I’d share these jokes to make you smile.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that I can already see the first signs of Fall in the trees. Some of the leaves are changing and they’re getting to that beautiful reddish hue that only maples have. I love fall, but I miss the extra hours of daylight that summer provides.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that I’ve been watching a British show (we only get UK channels with our new system) called: Paul O’Grady for the love of dogs.

Not only do they rescue, help and find new homes for the dogs, Paul is hilarious and makes me laugh with every episode. He chats with the dogs and asks them questions and he’s just so funny. It’s hard to stop watching and yesterday, I watched an entire season in one go.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that River has been itching like crazy lately. I think he might be allergic to something, so we’ve started giving him allergy medication…but, just in case, we’re also going to give him a bath. Since River hates baths, giving him one is akin to trying to wash one of the dragons from Game of Thrones, a herculean and massive task to be avoided at all costs.

Finally, I’d ask you how your week was going, how things are on your end and what news you have to share.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that our garage is almost finished and I have the pictures to prove it.

Stairs to get into our home

A hinge I thought was inspirational

The corner of a window…don’t I take incredible pictures?

Okay, he might look tiny in the picture but this spider was actually massive. As in dinaussor-sized massive!

My lovely Jeep, safe and sound in his new home…and yes, I parked too close to the door. Oops.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that my lovely hubby just had a fit over the dogs. He was tip toeing his way around a sleeping River when the dog decided to move…and, trying to avoid stepping on him, the man went flying into a pirouette. It was an incredibly graceful move for a man that is not on the small side. However, River didn’t find it that impressive, and he didn’t think the decidedly British curses that followed were inspiring either.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that just this weekend was the first time when I couldn’t finish a book I had started. It was an odd experience that left me pretty stunned.

If we were having coffee, I’d share that I have some time off work coming up soon and I’m over the moon about it. Me, being me, I’ve also managed to have some work to take home with me during that break but I think that there will be plenty of time to do both, work and relax.

If we were having coffee, I’d share with you that yesterday was Canada’s 150th Birthday and we went out to celebrate among the many other Canadians. It was hot, sticky and humid…not to mention the crowds. When we finally got an ice-cream and headed back home, I breathed a sigh of relief. I don’t like crowds.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that this is my favourite time of day. It’s early morning, it’s super quiet and nothing is moving in the house except my fingers on the keyboard. Soooo peaceful.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you I’m on the hunt for another book to read. Have you read anything you’d recommend?

What do you think? Is it time for another cup of coffee?

If we were having coffee…

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that the first sip of mine was a highlight of my day…and it happened at 6am on Saturday.

Our two dogs being the considerate, loving, patient hounds that they are, decided 5:45 was late enough and proceeded pester me over and over until I got out of bed. No amount of ‘leave me alone’ or ‘go back to sleep’ made either of them settle back into their cushions. So, long story short, I was up on a Saturday morning at a ridiculous hour, sipping my coffee, giving both fluff balls dirty looks.

The coffee was a definite highlight of the morning. It was absolutely divine.

In other news, our ‘garage’ construction is coming along. We now have bricks. Never mind the fact that they are below ground and will never actually be seen, they are bricks and a huge improvement over the giant hole we used to have.

This obviously calls for a celebratory, second cup of coffee.

If we were having coffee…

If we were having coffee I’d moan about the fact that, even though it’s Saturday, I have to go to a DayJob thing all day. I know there are jobs out there that do this regularly and I’m lucky that mine doesn’t…but I still like to moan about it.

To compensate for this tragic beginning to the weekend, I’m going to have a second cup of coffee as a treat–hopefully the size of a large bird bath. 😀

If we were having coffee, I’d explain to you that we’ve literally gone from winter boots to sandals in under a week. In true Canadian form, the weather has gone from freezing to boiling∗ in less than 5 days. (*Boiling = Canadian expression meaning anything warmer than freezing.)

My dogs are completely unhappy about this change in the weather. The mosquitoes, on the other hand, are delighted and have appeared by the gazillions∗. (Gazillions = Taylorism meaning a number so large it’s ridiculous).

How are you? How are things with you? Are you enjoying your cup of coffee?

If we were having coffee…

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that I’m worried about Ocean. My littlest dog has been puking lately and I don’t know why or how to stop it. In other ways, she’s actually doing better (she had an allergic reaction to a food change) and I think the allergies are going away but the tummy troubles are still there. I don’t like it one bit. If she doesn’t get better…well, I just can’t imagine life without her.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that this week has been insane mostly because my lovely hubby ended up in the hospital after losing a fight with a gall bladder stone. Long story short, he still has his gall bladder but it has to go. Next week, he has tons of meetings with different doctors and we’re going to see what they all say. Thank goodness we live in Canada and all those appointments are free.

I don’t like to be negative on this blog, so I’d probably tell you that this morning, it was so cool and fresh, the air was just gorgeous. I stood outside freezing my tail off but loving every breath. It just felt clean and beautiful. I love spring.

And I’d ask what’s new with you. How are you and how are things at home with you? How is work?

If we were having coffee

If we were having coffee I’d rant about what a glorious day we had yesterday. It was sunny and warm. There wasn’t a snow flake in sight. I was so excited, I grabbed my fluffy pooches and out we went for a walk.

(credit:Robin Loznak Photography)

It was still below zero, this is Canada after all, but it was gorgeous. I had this smile on my face that didn’t dim as we walked. Everything seemed a miraculous gift. I was so excited, I managed to lose the two extra collars (gentle leaders) I bring for just in case situations.

If we were sipping coffee, I’d tell you my cell phone died a water death this week and now I’m in the middle of trying to get the insurance that I bought for the phone to actually replace the thing. Easier said than done, because they want everything from birth certificates to proof of clean breath before they will let another phone out of their grasp. Still, I’m hopeful I will eventually be able to have a working cell.

I’d also tell you I’m looking for a new book. I know, I’m always looking for a new book but this time I’m looking for a different new book. I don’t know how it would be different either. I’ll know when I find it. It will obviously require many hours spent at the bookstore. 😀

And we have a four-day weekend here. Isn’t that incredible? I know it’s only four days but right now, at the very start of it, it feels like there are endless supply of days and possibilities.

How are things on your end? How was your week?
