If we were having coffee…

If we were having coffee, I’d want to hear what you’re doing and what you’re up to. What’s important or new in your life right now? Is there anything that you’re trying to debate or decide? Tell me about your week.

I’d love to hear it because we’ve had a lot of news around here and it’s nice to get out of our bubble of concerns for a while. I find that hearing other people’s stories gives me a break from my worries and makes me feel better.

But it seems you’re on the quiet side today and aren’t saying much. So, here’s something to make you smile.

If we were having coffee…

I’d tell you around this time of year, I start to yearn for sunshine, longer days, warmer weather and less snow. The hairballs we have as dogs, however, would probably love winter all year around. To them, this is heaven.

Around here, though, Mother Nature rules with a cold fist and there are still weeks and weeks of the white stuff ahead of us. As I look outside my window, all I see is swirling flakes of snow. When the dogs come in from the outside, they are covered with the stuff.

In other news, my job changes tomorrow along with the start of February. I work with the public, so mine is not a predictable job. People come in with all sorts of interesting quirks, issues and stories, appreciating them is the highlight of my job…but it can also be the catalyst for nightmarish headaches. People are a funny lot. Logic doesn’t always apply to the them; alarmingly, neither does hygiene.

On the funny side, TV has never been this entertaining.

How about you? How is your February going?

If we were having coffee…

If we were having coffee I’d ask you what you did for New Years and if you have already seen the Mariah Carey fiasco where she storms off the stage.

I’d ask you if you made any New Year’s resolutions and what they are. Personally, I never make them because I tend to break them faster than I can say them. But I do have the intention of writing…just what is up in the air. And to exercise more. That’s always important.

Then again, you might still be recuperating from the festivities of the past few days, and the last thing you want to do is chat.

What about that cup of coffee? It does wonders for my headaches 🙂

If we were having coffee…

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that my hubby is away for the weekend at a therapists’ conference. They’re doing something like psychodrama…I think. Whatever it is, he’s delighted to go and I’m alone with our two fluffy pooches this weekend.

I’d share that post-election around here, in Canada, we’re still pretty stunned at the results and continue to watch our TV’s in disbelief. I’m hoping that the new President, no matter how surprising his election, will help the US prosper and the world get to a better place. He’s certainly making changes already.

I’d tell you that I’m suddenly cooking. It’s something very new to me and it has surprised everyone who knows me…including myself. I’m trying vegan dishes and so far, have done a couple that taste awesome. I’d probably share a recipe that works really well for mashed potatoes and cauliflower…but you’d probably get up to get a coffee refill just to avoid that subject.

Finally, I’d drink my coffee. With a cup in hand, I can handle just about anything.

If we were having coffee, I’d be chatting about this week and asking you how it went. What was your highlight? And what part would you rather forget?

I’d tell you that we have a new addition to the house. My lovely hubby decided that our akitas were too ‘frail’ to be outdoors in our Canadian winters without some form of protection and called his handy-man, trusty Shane. Long story short, there’s a new small building in our yard, built specially for our doggies. It has a roof and everything.

Since I know for a fact that akitas are winter dogs, I have suspicions that my hubby and his friend were just looking for a reason to hang out and bang on things, but I’d ask you to keep that suspicion between us. No need to remove someone’s denial.

If we were chatting, I’d admit I took work home this weekend, something I seldom do. And hope you didn’t make the same choice and have a lovely, work free weekend ahead of you.

And I’d ask you what you were reading…and if you’ve heard of any good books you’d like to share…

And I’d thank Part Time Monster for this lovely meme. 🙂

If We Were Having Coffee…

I love these posts. They’re interesting, easy to read and sound like I’m talking to a friend over coffee. There’s something about the way Part Time Monster writes that’s captivating.

Part Time Monster

I’d tell you that it’s been a hell of  a week. I sat exams on Monday, left school on Wednesday, spent the last few days working on my resume and grading final papers, and today is the husband’s birthday, so we’re off to lunch with the family and then tonight we’re on to The Nightmare Before Christmas Burlesque, a production that some of our friends are in. Tomorrow, Little Jedi comes home from a visit to his dad’s house, and I have to get final grades finished before then.

I’d tell you that this week is going to be a whirlwind of working on and sending out the resume, Christmas shopping, and last minute details. I’ve been so caught up in exams and in decision making that I haven’t had much time for stopping to think about Christmas. We’ve got the trees up, but we haven’t done any shopping.

If We Were Having Coffee – 11-22-2014

A great new feature at Trent’s World!

Trent's World (the Blog)

Morning Coffee

Hello and welcome.  Grab yourself a cup of strong French Roast.  I have tea if the coffee is a little much for you.  From the picture you should be able to guess that I’m at home in new Hampshire.

Thinking of that picture, do you see that stack of electronics behind the coffee cup?  This week I’ve been spend huge amounts of time playing that collection of Old School Analog Circuitry known as a minimoog Voyager.  For some reason the need to create music is returning with a vengeance and this time the outlet is mostly old fashioned (read 1960s/1970s style) analog synthesis.  I’ve also been practicing my piano.  Wow, do I need the practice!  I’ve gotten very rusty.

If we were having coffee…

A_time_for_a_cup_of_coffee-2

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that my work load is about to go through the roof and I’m worried about it and I’d tell you our house hasn’t sold and that worries me more than I’d like to admit.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m actually enjoying editing Amy’s Courage because I’ve added a new character–an adopted dog–that I simply love. My sister was teaching in Mongolia and sent me this picture of a homeless dog she was feeding. 5_Lucie the Mum

Her name is Lucy and she’s a stray dog trying to feed her puppies. I couldn’t get her out of my mind. So, I’ve put her in my book where I get to spoil her to my heart’s content.

I’d tell you I’m looking forward to fall. After the winter we just had, it’s insane that I can’t wait for the cold weather again. I probably have penguin DNA or something.

I’d ask you how you’re doing and what you’re reading…
