I love a book that has animals in it–especially if those little critters are funny. Animal Attraction by Jill Shalvis is a book that fits that description. The animals in it were realistic too, which was even better. The puppies were hyper, cats had attitude and dogs kept their owners up all night. Maybe it’s because I have two pooches at home who are full of personality or maybe it’s because I just love animals in general but, for me, they add a little something to any story. When the dressed-up heroine picks up a puppy and it pees on her dry-clean-only clothes or when a parrot repeats a swearword, I laugh.
Animals are really funny.
